Minkey Hockey

Minkey (Kindy to Year 4) is a modified form of hockey designed to introduce children to hockey. The games and rules are changed to ensure a simple and safe version of the game of hockey. The game is played on a smaller field with two 20 minute halves with a 5 minute interval. Goals are not recorded in the Minkey competition as skill development is the main objective. Swanbourne Primary School participates in the Minkey competition, run by the Westside Wolves club.  With around 10 teams registered each year, Swanbourne tops other schools in participation.

Junior Basketball

Calling all Junior Basketballers

Basketball is a fantastic sport for boys and girls, developing a variety of skills, game plays and strategies as well as developing team awareness. It is also great fun.

Registrations for the Perry Lakes Hawks Junior basketball season will now commence in 2019.

You are able to register as a Team or Individual from Year 3 and up. Girls games are on Friday afternoons, boys play on a Saturday morning.

Year 2’s are invited to register in the miniball (skills focus and casual game) sessions which run on a Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately due to court capacity, there is no competition for Year 1’s.

The season commences with grading games in March and the season starting at the end of term 1. The season runs through term 2 and 3 until September. There are several clubs taking registrations, so please check the Hawks website for further information and club contacts.

Swanny Parent contact

Should you have any questions regarding Basketball - Contact for 2019 is TBA

Auskick is a non-contact program run by the Swanbourne Tigers Junior Football Club which aims to provide boys and girls with a fun and safe Australian Football experience that serves as an introduction to the AFL game.

The program combines skills training, teamwork and games to introduce children to the basics of Australian Football – it activates and develops within each child the desire for a healthy lifestyle and an association with the AFL game.

Who can play?

Auskick program is available to boys and girls from Kindy to Grade 3 (inclusive).

When is Auskick played?
Auskick runs from May until August, sessions run for approximately 1.5 hours on Sunday mornings starting at 9am at the new revamped pavilion at Allen Park Reserve in Swanbourne.

Registrations each year open in February at  http://swannytigers.org.au/registration/

The club supplies a Swanbourne Tigers team Guernsey for each child to wear for the season.  Footy boots are optional, though they do help if the conditions are wet. Navy footy shorts and the club navy-and-gold socks are the clubs uniform, although there is no requirement for children to wear any particular type.

What is parent involvement?

We encourage the active participation of parents in the sessions, guided and assisted by a friendly team of AFL accredited junior coaches. We’d love to see as many children and families as possible from our area.
